1. Who we are
TaxiCloud Ltd. is a company registered in England and Wales operating the TaxiCloud taxi dispatch platform at taxicloud.app. The TaxiCloud Driver app is provided to drivers on behalf of the fleet operator they work with. The fleet operator is the data controller; TaxiCloud acts as the data processor. Contact: [email protected] or +44 7592 201353.
2. What the app collects and why
- Precise location (including in the background): while you are online, the app collects GPS location through a foreground service so the dispatch system can match you with nearby trips, show your position to the operator, provide turn-by-turn navigation, and calculate distances and fares. Location collection stops when you go offline.
- Account & contact details: your name, phone number, and email address, used to identify your driver account, authenticate you, and contact you about trips.
- Trip & earnings data: trip history, fares, tips, bonuses, wallet balance, and payout records, used to operate dispatch and show your earnings.
- Payment / payout information: bank or payout destination details needed to pay you. Full payout instructions are stored encrypted and are never displayed back in full inside the app.
- Device & push identifiers: a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token and device identifiers, used to deliver trip and dispatch push notifications.
- Diagnostics & crash data: crash logs and performance diagnostics via Firebase Crashlytics, and aggregate app interaction events via Firebase Analytics, used to keep the app stable and improve it.
The app requests microphone and notification permissions to support in-app features and alerts. We do not record, store, or transmit audio for advertising or profiling.
3. Lawful bases
- Contract: processing required to deliver dispatch, navigation, and payouts to you and the operator.
- Legitimate interest: crash, performance, and stability diagnostics.
- Legal obligation: retention of trip and licensing data under UK PHV and NTA Ireland SPSV regulations.
4. Data sharing
Your trip and location data is shared with the fleet operator you drive for, as part of providing the dispatch service. We use Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics, Analytics) and Google Maps as service providers under data-processing terms. We do not sell your data and do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing.
5. Where we store data
Dispatch data is stored in AWS Frankfurt (eu-central-1) by default. We do not transfer data outside the European Economic Area without contractual safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses) and a documented transfer impact assessment.
6. How long we keep data
Trip records are retained for the period required by UK private-hire and NTA Ireland SPSV licensing rules. Location points used for live dispatch are retained only as long as operationally needed and then aggregated or deleted. Account data is deleted within 30 days of your account being closed, unless a legal obligation requires longer retention.
7. Your rights and account / data deletion
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing of your personal data under GDPR.
To request deletion of your driver account and associated personal data, email [email protected] from your registered address, or call +44 7592 201353. We respond within 30 days. Data we must retain for legal or licensing reasons will be deleted once that obligation expires.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AWS KMS). See our security page for our full security posture.
9. Children
The TaxiCloud Driver app is intended for licensed drivers aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
